Bedkar German Shepherds is a small hobby kennel located
in beautiful Washington State, in Ridgefield, just north of
Vancouver.  The owners are Kay Reamensnyder and Betty
Doerpinghaus, both retired Nurse Anesthetists.
Kay's involvement started in the late 60's, with GSD from
Liebestraum, Dornwald and Hessian Kennels.  After moving to
WA state, the present day kennel was started, with Betty, in1980.
Our first Champion was Bedkar's Bosco by Boz, from our first litter.
His sister, Bedkar's Halo v.Hidden Springs, owned and loved by
Vicki and Harold Balter, also went onto her Championship....eventually
both became ROM's, Bosco in Canada and Halo in the US.
In the past, Bedkar has teamed with Von Hamm Kennels (Randy Hamm),
producing two extrordinary Champion bitches.  Stevie (Am. Can. Ch.
Von Hamm Bedkar Leathern' Lace) and Mine (Am. Can. Ch. Von Hamm
Bedkar She's All Mine).  Stevie was a multiple BIS winner and was
a top five bitch for 5 years.  Mine was a BISS and group One winner and her first litter
has produced one male champion (Schultz) at 18 months....his brother,
Goliath, finishing his championship that same Fall...and his sister, Bean,
who has 7 points, one major.
The years in between have produced 24 American champions, 43 Can. Champions
30 International Champions,  4 ROM's and 3 ROMC's.  We are proud to have
had two males and three females who have been in the Top 10 in
various years, two of whom have been awarded AOE's at the Eukanuba
National Championships.
Kay has judged GSD for over 23 years and is now a Herding Group judge
and judges multiple breeds in the Working and Sporting Groups.
